I Think that if ppl have pics of the turbos offered on these cars, it would help some of us to source them out.. Soo post up some pics of turbos off of 1.6TDs and 19TDs

Best thing is to get a pic of the numbers on the compressor housing - they give pretty much all the info you need!

The top picture is a KKK K24. The lower picture looks like a Garrett T3 but the compressor housing has the triangle patteren logo of a KKK turbo.

The best was to tell the differance on VW turbos is by the waste gate can. The T3 can has two hoses from it and is shaped like a can. The K24 has coolong fins and is adjusted on the end.

The second one is a K03.

turbos all look the same.. its the exhaust flanges that make the VW turbo special..

Your right. It is a K03. The tab on the intake next to the turbo inlet gives it away, also the cloth covered Ref. hose and engine mount under it.
