audi k24
« on: October 10, 2011, 11:36:50 pm »
I have heard the the gasser k24 off an audi 200 turbo is a little smaller than a diesel k24.  Is this true?  Would this be an upgrade for my 1.6 TD.  My ecodiesel currently has a t3 on it.

My idea of an upgrade would be less lag.

I know I should put a k14 on an eco.. but that's not what was on my car when I bought it.

There is an audi 200 turbo at the local junkyard and I was thinking of pulling the turbo if it were an upgrade.

Thanks.

The Audi turbo will also be water cooled.  Not sure if you care.  Sorry, I don't know the answer to your original question, but I'm a little surprised that the Audi turbo is smaller.

you sure its not a K26 off an audi gasser?

im pretty sure that anything that came on an audi is going to be BIGGER..

you should get a K14 if you really want an "upgrade"

What type of exhaust flange do the Audi turbos have?  Trapezoidal pattern like the 1.6 td?
Did you end up looking at it, Alex?

Audi turbos usually have DIFFERENT flanges than VW turbos..

the K26 flange looks more like a VOLVO flange, rather than a VW flange..

the K24 off the gasser probably wouldnt be much of an upgrade, not like going to a K14

Volvos have traditional T3 flange. Audi gassers have their own flange, almost T3 but round hole. Audi 5cyl diesels have flange between T3 and T2. VW/Audi 1,6 diesels have their own flange.

American Volvo gasser cars have a turbo flange that looks almost identical to the audi K26 flange.. it uses a round gasket too.

Audi diesel K24 has like, T25 almost. but its not..

I wasn't able to get a close look at it.  This salvage yard I was at is partially indoor. and it's kind of hard to see and I didn't have a flashlight.  The turbo was really clean like it was low mileage but I couldn't make out the info plate and flange.  I didn't end of getting it because I really didn't need it.
