1.6GTD head gasket and engine specs
« on: September 26, 2011, 06:22:27 am »
I'm getting a MLS gasket made up for my 1.6 but my two manuals give conflicting info.

What is the correct thickness for a 3 notch GTD gasket - does that differ from a 3 notch AAZ gasket?

What is the bore size of the 1600 cylinders?

76.48mm for a FRESH bore.

77.48 is max o/s on a 1.6, AFAIK..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

All fibre gaskets the same for all the 1.6 diesels 1.61mm max.
 Bores out to 77.5mm.
Everything the same on the diesel engines, ie RA SB, as well as the MF 1V etc Including rings.

The only difference I've found is  RA and SB have different pistons from the others.

?

Day release from doing porridge? :)

I was referring to your thoughts that  the injection pump cam heights for 1.6 pumps being mainly about 4mm, and not as I have seen so far 2.3mm. I was wondering if it was because of your dealing with lots of GTD pumps?

I found it... now your 2 threads are next to each other!
What is the physical difference between GTD pistons and the rest? I assume you know as you seem to have the SW UK collection of VW diesel  engines. ;D

Rarely taken any pistons out of any block, never compared any either - sorry.
