Like the title says, What is the stock diameter of a AAZ's exhaust, more specifically on a 93 Passat. The Current state of my exhaust is a happy succession of mismatched bits of tubing ranging from 2'' to 2.75'' OD with about 2 feet of it missing somewhere. It's too messed up to take an educated guess! I found some nice 2.250'' OD X 0.065'' seamless stainless pipes lying around at work and I thought it would be a groovy, if not overkill way of fixing my exhaust problem. Is the 2.250'' tubing large enough compared to stock? I have this crazy idea of making a simple stainless glasspack too, but that might be for another time. Straitpipe for now I guess!
My 93 Passat has 2" exhaust stock.
Thanks. That's what I figured, but it's such a mess down there, I wanted to be sure.
Mine is 2.25 from the downpipe back to a custom tail pipe. It's not obnoxious loud, and my turbo is happier.
http://youtu.be/eovDWm5Nr70Custom tail pipe makes the sound much different, it was quieter and less throaty with 2.25 right to the back of the car. I also have no cat.
Ya, the cat is coming out too
I'm debating whether to start the new exhaust at the flex pipe or at the turbo flange. I don't have access to a bender so everything would have to be segmented and welded back together. I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle right away since the only healthy part of my exhaust is the down pipe. Are the performance benefits worth it? What's the diameter/shape of the turbo's exhaust port?
which turbo is on the car? Stock K03? if so the addes benefit of a larger pipe will be neglegible as they spool pretty quick.
Yes, it's the stock turbo. Good to know!
