A simple shop press (~12 ton) is a must.

Define R&R... are you swapping transmissions or rebuilding one?

R&R is pretty universal as remove and replace...

it takes nothing more than simple hand tools to remove and replace a trans, but REBUILDING a trans, takes a press, and all that sorts of cool stuff..

You'll need a 8mm 12pt triple square to get the axles off, and a scissor jack to push the engine ahead far enough depending on platform. A1,2 or3 or B? Also a 30mm socket.
Other then that it should already be in your tool box.

Yeah... both of the replies above me implied pulling the trans apart.
30mm socket is not needed, you don't have to pull the axle out on that end.
17mm sockets, shallow and deep, wobble extension or u joint and extension for whatever size your 17mm socket is.
13mm socket
8mm triple square
spare jack
Uhh, I think that's it

You have to take the drivers side axle out don't you? At any rate, I like the extra room it gives you.

Ok... I've never had to, that might make be easier though! I just avoid that 30mm nut as much as I can

i dont touch either. i drop the ball joint bolt, and swing the hub and axle out of the way..
