Exhaust Options
« on: September 14, 2011, 12:37:09 pm »
Hey all everything has been going great with my car, its running great i have installed my carpet kit and stereo system and ill be finishing up the rest of the interior this fall, my most pertinent issue right now is exhaust, I was going to go with a straight 2.5 inch system no muffler but what little of a downpipe i have on it makes it kinda drone and i want this to be my everyday ride so i want some good suggestions for some highflow straight through muffler and i am going to need a downpipe made so if any of you can offer your services for a 1.6 td motor with a k24 housing in a rabbit i am up to buying it lol.. So have it what do you recommend muffler wise, im not autocrossing the car this is going to be my low and slow MPG bunny but for whatever reason the car does have some ass to it and i would like to keep what power it has...  Heres and up to date pic i have gotten my gti lower spoiler installed and i sourced a NOS chrome VW grill emblem....

The reason you have drone is because you have only a down pipe. The exhaust note is trapped still under the hood and under the car just bouncing around and "droning".

The power is because you have as little back pressure as possible, from the short down-pipe-only exhaust. A completely sealed straight exhaust system that properly exits from under the vehicle will have no drone.

then its just a bare bones model rocco grille..

the bare bones rabbit got a chrome stripe grille, the GTI got the red stripe.. the red stripe grille is the boobs!

i agree, a COMPLETELY CHROME grille would probably make it look a bit ricey..
