diesel geek belly pan.. man it SUX
« on: September 10, 2011, 11:40:06 am »
well other night i gotta do a oil change on a mk4 pd tdi with a diesel geek belly pan.. made of aluminum... what the hell were they thinking.. the oil hole is way too small.. as in the oil does not come out it but instead the pan catches it and makes black gold all over me shop..

think i fixed with a good ol sawzall.. will not know till my next lucky oil change on it.. but if you got one on yours.. watch out.. will be fun..

I have probably 20 customers who have them, just take it off, most dont have the oil drain hole.

I would rather have to dick 45min with an oil drain plug than break one oil pan out in the middle of no where.

Or you could do the whole top end oil extraction deal.

but kinda fits, most stuff on a pd is overly complicated. doing  a head on one right now.

anti-seize sir... and no we made hole bigger to not make said mess 2x.. p.s. this is one you installed..  ;D had out of town visit... his next oil change if the bigger hole works you will need to add that to the pre installation.. max 5min of work..

I have the evolution plate and its awesome. The oil drain access is big enough that you don't have to take the plate off. It's still a good idea to take the plate off every second oil change to check the boots and trans, etc.

;D well if i said who's car it was.. some may think wtf.. why he no change his own oil.. LOL.. so my wording acceptable.. i just happen to have a lift for him.. and 11pm no issue..  :P

i can see taking off the pan every once in a while.. but every oil change.. nope.. needs bigger hole..

just rember anti-seize your friend too on this stuff...  the thing to rember if you somehow manage to break any of the rear 3 nutserts free.. you will have to cut the bolt heads off.. its ohio with lots of salt..

i see toyotas and other cars with steel skids break them bolts.. and they need removed to get to the filter usually.. so off every oil change.. and i charge a extra $10 on those cars.. if i gotta drill bolts = 75/hr.. 1 hr min.. so oil change gets $$$ fast
