2002 wiring cut
« on: August 16, 2011, 07:00:17 pm »
trying to figure what/where some wires were to go.  4 black wires, w/red, blue, white, green tracers.  all in single plastic tube, coming from main wiring bundle which is above auto trans and below the engine coolant temp sensor.  I'm no electrical wizard so can't figure out anything from the cursory wiring diagram I have in my haynes manual--I know I should have a Bentley, but I'm assisting kids w/college right now, so I'm on a Haynes budget.  car is 2002 tdi w/still functioning 4-speed auto trans.  thanks for any assistance.

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I'm always optimistic-but I keep my cellphone charged, and don't get on it too hard.

everything works, except speedo/odometer and horn, but I don't think these wires are at fault.  I do get a cel code for glow plug #2, but it doesn't come on until after car is started and driven.

New glow plug wiring harnesses sometimes come with a complete harness. Sometimes when they fail, people route the entire harness back to the connector under the plastic housing beneath the airbox and connect the plug. Then they cut the harness off where it goes into the main engine harness near cylinder #4 and leave the old wires there.
