Injection pump tuning

I just bought my first Rab Diesel, 81' non turbo.
It seems to run fine but has little response and barely reaches 100km/h.
Before i go out and buy a manual i thought i'd ask the pro's here. I don't think the timming is out, although that's possible. Before venturing there, if anyone has any brief articles on pump adjustments, if there are any, that be great.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have the proper tools to adjust the pump timing?

As in special tools? negative.
That's another question when i get the "how to adjust" questions answered.

I was hoping for an adjustment before having to go far as checking the timming.

Well, the timing is really the place you should start. Unless someone has turned down the fuel or something then it is unlikely there is anything else you can do.
The special tool(s) needed are a dial indicator with a special adapter to fit the injection pump, and the pump/camshaft lock tools might be a help. If you're going to be changing your timing belt you really ought to consider them as they're not very expensive.

I just remembered a couple years ago i was given all those tools minus the dial indicator.
I think i'm see if anyone local has the know how and tool for me..trade some skill for beer..always works.
Becides the timming, is there anything to try and tweak?

haha "natures D student." Is that from family guy, the turtle right? Well anyways if you want to cruise a bit faster on the highway,
1. Tires, Alignment, wheel bearings
2. Maybe you need some new exhaust
3. Air intake will get you going a little faster.
I have not yet done any pump mods, but i believe my car is up to par on the basics. My car cruises down the highway at 75mph (75*1.61=120kph) pretty decent.

Well, that the tires a filled up with max sidewall psi...true it wears out the tires a little faster...but small things make big differences in these cars. As far as your intake goes....try making up some type of a cold/ram air intake system for yours. I rigged up one and now am able to go 5 mph faster on average. check this out...
