like we were talking, you need more air to burn all that fuel you got from master Giles..

and that turbo you have on there sounds pretty big.. it was barely whistling, even after those few throttle blips..

how much boost do you make in first gear? and how late does the turbo come on? around what RPM?
didnt you say it comes on pretty good around 4 grand?

86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

In first gear, I rev it to 5K and by the time I look at the gauge, it reads maybe 7 psi.
By the time I'm in second gear, its at 0 psi and its got to start building boost all over again. But once I see 3k rpm its starting to build and by 3700 its at 10 psi and climbing fast to 20-25 psi but once again, in the higher rpms, its to small and over spooling. From second to third gear, theres maybe a 10 psi drop and is really pulling hard till it chocks out.

Oh well, it is what it is. Even with NOS, its still has all the fuel I would ever need.

I'm looking for a VNT1756VB or a GTB VNT turbo.

Great for street with a K14 or the like but for drag racing, nah.

 :o :o :o :o

HOLY CRAP!!! you got some lag.. i make full boost in all gears, and boost drops about 2-3 psi between shifts.. then power down again and the boost is right back.. you really need a VNT buddy..

would have you pulling alot lower in the RPM range.. along with the regular weight flywheel.. i used a light flywheel once, and hated it. car was doggy off the bottom.

5 grand, im making 7 psi in neutral..

kinda hard to compare a regular turbo to a VNT turbo tho..

i still think the truck is awesome tho!  8)

awesome i knew there was some more quickness hiding in that car, i bet there is more yet.  its a shame the turbo is spooling too late for you, the compressor map is beautiful for a 1.6, but perhaps that turbine is just too big, or maybe your wastegate is leaking some?  the next size down for a turbine housing is .36 a/r which is stock vw t3 size, dunno how to tell if that would help or not, they make turbine maps too but i'm not really sure how to interpret them, have u considered talking numbers with a professional turbo shop?  vnt 17 would be an awesome turbo for a 1.6, but with what seems to be your power goals i don't think it is big enough.

what mods are done to the head? what intake and exhaust mani also?
and how are you shifting? in my other cars i never lift when i shift at the track. period.  kick the clutch and slam the next gear. yes its not much of a difference but a tenth at the start is about a second on the big end.

if you race shifted 2nd, or 3rd in my car, you would go up in smoke. it would take time away..

yup, it would just blow the tires off. 2nd gear, you gotta let off to shift in my car.

Even aside from the tire/transmission problem, you're already at 5000rpm and full boost in 2nd and 3rd gear. Not sure what PBS's governor spring is doing exactly, but in that 1/10s, you could hit some pretty high rev's, and that's not even taking into account what would happen in a missed shift...

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D

i still have a governor. its called pump rollers skipping. lol.

my motor still only pulls to a certain RPM, even in neutral. doesnt turn scary revs.. prolly ~6000...
