AC Condenser for '82 Rabbit P/U 1.6 dsl...
« on: July 25, 2011, 04:03:46 pm »
Guys,

I've been searching high and low trying to locate someone that carries a replacment condenser for my pickup, to no avail. I see the universal units, and I've had vendors say they can "make one up". I live in the south and really enjoy my AC - especially after a long day in the 100+ heat and humidity here, so I'd really like to keep my AC unit working.

It's got the Sankyo 508 type compressor, which doesn't require near the HP to drive it as the old York style compressors.

Anyone out there gotta line on replacement AC condensers for an 82 Caddy ?

its no different than a rabbit condenser, since the vehicles are identical from the doors forward..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I've got a couple. I'd need to pressure test them though...

Hey guys, I appreciate the feedback and offers, but I found one locally at a boneyard for $50. Evidently, the "truck" condenser is a thicker unit at 1.250 core thickness. I couldn't find a new replacement unit that matched. It might not be a big deal but I don't know enough about 'em to risk the others.

Again, thanks guys. Ya'll rock !
