I think that works best.  It may also have more cetane in it.  From what I gather paraffin is the first thing they take out of the diesel now.  I would try candles but that wax may take longer to dissolve.  Then there is the perfume or scents that get dropped into it.  I can't imagine any of us guys pulling up to a light racing the turbo and smelling like roses or lavender.  Can you? 

You might try an experiment with the wax you want to use to see if it dissolves OK.  Take a clear jar, shave some into it and see if it goes into solution.

I put my sights on Mark's 57 mpg that he stated elsewhere.  But he has a turbo so can run leaner than me.  Car runs good at 65-70 now.  Need to test the compression to see what it is.  Seems to blue smoke more than before.

Well, believe the wax didn't come back out of that gallon.. I did just as you said: 1 gallon diesel, 2 ounces 2 stroke, and a quarter pound Gulf wax. And left it in the trunk in the 100 degree virginia heat.
I only got 44.5 mpg this past tank.. But that's after a half turn on the smoke screw, and a bunch of pedal to the metal cause of the new smoke. And boy does it bellow. You can see it rolling over the second car back.

Were there chunks and shavings in the bottom or what?  I always get it to dissolve.  And my car doesn't get all that hot on the coast.  44.5 mpg and you are driving around with a lead foot to the pedal and black smoking two cars back?  That is still pretty good when you think about the monster Dodge or Ford truck trying to do the same.  They might make 8 mpg. 

My tuning is different, not an ounce of black smoke in third, wound up to the limit climbing the steep long grades.  So think about backing the max fuel screw out a bit or gee wiz professor, stop stomping on it man.  On the next tank, try this, baby the accelerator,  my dad taught me if I wanted mileage pretend there is an egg between the pedal and my foot.  Press just enough to move it down gently.  He also said if you want to peel out and have smoke rolling off the tires don't expect the tank to last long.  It is one or the other. 

I would back that screw 1/4 of a turn to see if it makes much of a difference.  Should smoke less and probably have to up the idle from where you are now.  Hold that, you mentioned you had a high idle as it was.  The car shouldn't baulk at the start in first,  it should have power to pull away on a hill.  I live on a steep grade and I adjusted the screw so I could back out of the drive and go uphill with ease.  When I got it too lean, it wouldn't go any way but downhill. 

Correction to the above chase of 57 mpg.  I read that wrong, his mileage was imperial gallons not American.  I have him beat doing 50 mpg U.S.  that it 60 mpg Brit. 

Boost can happen you say.  Hmm  now I am thinking.  Drive from Portland to Astoria is so short.  Might need to think again on this one.  I will keep in touch.  First the cosmetics, then more performance.

Yeah i saw where he had British mpgs a few posts back. I did get it all to dissolve. I think i'm gonna pull the smoke screw back out some. I have a turbo but don't have the $$ to fix the motor mount situation right now.
New idea: what if I run the smoke screw out the other way? What then? Like real lean?

Too lean is a pain in the arse.  Then it really can't get out of it's own way.  You have to floor it when you should be feathering the pedal.  I noticed that my car seems to respond better now with the screw in about 1/4 of a turn then when I had it leaned out.  I think I gained a couple mpgs just by not having to be full on the pedal all the time. 

Hagar, bless his soul, talked alot about ashless aviation oil, I have not looked around for it.  I wonder if it is easily available here in Portland?  Hagar used it in the cold weather instead of wax.  Easier to deal with than wax for sure and dissolving it would be instantaneous.  I thought he mentioned mineral oil as well for a substitute.  May have to go back to the thread and see, was the mineral oil for cetane or lube reasons.

Diesel prices dropping lately, but with the quest on to get to 55 or 60 mpg I won't be smoking my tailpipe.  It is sooty enough already.

yeah i just wanted to poot off a few smoke bombs ...everybody else was doing it, and i wanted to crack off some farts.. hell if i get out of the pedal so damn much i might get half my mpg back that i lost.

yeah i guess i'll go turn my smoker down for now .. at least i can see how much i benefit on this wax tank anyway.

Well till school starts you should start shopping around for some scented candles.  At least make them think about it twice.  You POOT EM and they are like, oh, Black stemmed roses.   Or Vanilla beans.

Is it so hard to find candle in oil form,I will not say parafin oil because that name means different in our part of world,but I use electrical pump with filter for 30 min for 30 L of fuel to mix well.
Did you try mix with ULSD with pump/filter it`s look like oil but different by fingers,aka CF.

I don't have to mix much, just the one gallon with the wax and automatic transmission fluid in it.  I pour it in the empty tank first and the rest of the fuel at fill-up mixes it all up.  The IP does the rest of the mixing for me.  Mixed with ULSD from the pumps at the station.

My first experience with blend is (as I read after) that havier staff is on tank bottom and pick by IP first (WVO mostly).If you shake oil that`s one,but MIXING with pump or CF that`s different.Oil after CF is oil,but your fingers tell that there is difference-better or eazy flow,and won`t  sattle on bottom.
Once I test for 3 months there isn`t layers on my 2 lit bottle.Best
