Reverse switch for gearbox
« on: July 22, 2011, 06:08:52 pm »
Hi everyone,

I have a gearbox with the 5 of 8 pin reverse switch plug. Unfortunately the pins have corroded and snapped off. I believe any of the multi pin type switches will work. Postage is to Australia. Also, a 16 tooth speedo cable drive gear would help the cause....

Cheers!

You can take old switches apart, I did that and swapped internals around to make it work. Then I got LED backup lights to lower the current through the switch.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

they sold 2 or 3 different pin layouts for that switch.. so you gotta get the right one..

also you will want to add in a load reduction relay to power the back up lights.. else it will just melt/ruin another swich down the road..
