• I got this 1.6 on the stand and before I remove the head, I figure I would pull the drain plug. I have to say that after hundreds of oil changes, this is the blackest oil that I have ever seen in my life!
  
  Do diesel motors normally get this dark?

• It will be pitch black almost immediately after a change too
  
  There is a butt ton of soot in these motors, dark oil means its doing its job at suspending that soot in the oil.

• just ignore the pages of tire discussion.  You should check the link for the speed and RPMs though.  For those of us without a tach it is a good idea to know that at 65 in third I am about at the limit given the tires/trans combo I am running.
