Missing Cam Gear and Bolt
« on: July 18, 2011, 02:16:34 pm »
Are the cam gears the same on an 8V and 1.6D?

I am guessing not, but what do I know. The engine I have had a broken timing belt and it was complete, except for the belt, cam gear and bolt.

I have an 8V spare, but if needed, I can get one specific for the 1.6 cheap.

you need a diesel cam sprocket, its totally different from a gasser sprocket.
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
