Found one local, guy said those dreaded words "make me an offer"..

Older guy has it, second owner on the car.. Don't recall ever seeing him ever beating it, he claims it worked fine.. Other than rust the car looks nice, engine was sold so no test drive.. Shows about 180K miles on the clock.. He let me drain the oil and it looks clean so I'm feeling pretty confident it's ok... Dunno what the going rate is on these, I'm willing to pay a tad more since it's only 3 miles from me...

Ya, I was going to say 150 to 200.
These are very good transmissions. I've got one with way over 350k miles.
It boils down to: what is it worth and what are YOU willing to pay?

Junkyards are pretty much devoid of anything but MK3 auto/gasser crap.. This isn't the greatest area to be sourcing VW parts anyhow.. There's a few nuts like me that have a hoard of them.. I bought most of my hoard when the neighbor passed away.. Heck the nearest dealer ever was an hour and a half away..
I was thinking in the $150 - $200 ball park since I don;t have to pull it and I don;t have to spend a day going to get it.. When trying to get a feel for the guy he seemed pretty straight forward and honest.. And he gave me a beer since it was hot when I went to look at it.. He was generous with beer, he has to be a good egg right? (He later told me his wife only allows him one beer a day unless he has guests

)

start at 100, hes either gonna take it, or tell you he wants more.. 100 isnt as insulting as 50 if he wants more money for it..

They are $75 plus $50 core at the U-Pull-It in Gboro.
So $125 if you don't have spares laying around.
And ... U Pull It Ur Self without any use of jacks allowed.
Cars are all up on old rims about 18" - 24" off ground.
And it's 92-96* without the heat index factor here. (100*+)
Yeh man, $100 and a twelve pack sounds dammd good !

We settled on $125 bucks with one condition, I had to pick it up last night promptly at 5 when his wife left, and stay and drink a beer or six till his wife got home at 7..
