It there a ball bearing turbo small enough for the 1.9? I'd like to be spoiling in the 2500 range or below.
The smallest garret is the gt25r, which seems way too huge?
Possibly a mid sized t3 with a ball bearing upgrade?
ball bearing turbos are not well suited for the stupidly high turbine speeds that a diesel sees..
ball bearings have less drag during low turbine speeds (allowing for quicker spool) and more drag at higher turbine speeds, or so ive been told..
try this calculator to figure out about what you want. for target a/f ratio put in 18:1 and for bsfc put in .36 assuming you will be using an intercooler. change your rpm points to where you want them, and put the volumetric effeciency much lower, atleast at 80%. i think some kind of gt20 will probably be good for you, they actually used to come in the old upsolute kits for tdis, since you have a 1.9 u can move a lot more air and there are many good turbo options for you, its all in what power and drivability you want. a gt2056 would be sweet on a higher hp aaz

It is my understanding that the "R" in the turbos part # denotes ball bearing. A GT2554R would be ball bearing and a GT2056 would not.
Provided we are talking about Garrett, that is.
It looks like, according to those turbo maps, a k04 is an excellent choice! -just how do you mount it? Haha
keep in mind, those maps only show how well the compressor side of the turbo will work
