1983 Rabbit LS Turbo Diesel 2dr, Sunroof, 113K miles VIN# 1VWBH0176DV055930. $500 you tow it away.
There is a catch, of course. the Conneticut title that was signed over by the owner was lost about 4 years ago immediately after purchasing the car, before I had a chance to transfer it in NYState. The original seller cannot be bothered with going down to his local DMV and requesting a duplicate title, receiving it, signing it over and mailing it to me. Yes, of couse I've offered to pay for his trouble. The car is in New York State. I split my time between NY and Mexico, so I no longer have the time or interest to pursue this. Of course I will give the name and cell phone number of the orig seller after the sale.
About the car... I'll tell you my goals and you will understand why I've assembled the parts I have.
GTI from the outside, Silver, sans badging, striping.. but with a SportTruck grill, Kamei rear spoiler, Zender sideskirts (For GTI), A-Pillar fairings (ask for Scot at CityWide AutoGlass in Darmouth, MA..he can supply the windshield seal for the bonded windshield that will permit the european A-pillar fairings!). I have everything but the Zender Sideskirts. I have snow flakes, but they are the pure magnesiums..which look nicer anyway.
GL from the inside, Deep navy blue & Woodgrains, but with rear 3pt seat belts and headrest too...as well as the GTI center console, but with woodgrain bezel. I have all of this with the excpetion of the crhome window cranks with the navy blue inserts.
Factory Turbo Diesel under the hood..but with A/C, PowerSteering & Cruise Added. I have everything for this...pulled from Jetta TDs, SportTruck Diesel...the Cruise is still in the original box!
Couple of other things...installed or there to be installed
rear disk brake conversion from a MkIII (orig owner, not me)
Scricco2 Tilt/Slide Sunroof (needs adjustments)
Spare-tirewell diesel fuel tank (to augment factory gas tank)
Trailer Hitch
Rear Wiper (strangely rare in LS cars??)
Solid bolt through vent windows from GTI
All moulding to remove the 'chrome' ...and go with the black rubber of the GTI.
I'll attach photos that are only interest from a structural standpoint in a few hours.... You already know you need to finish the interior and paint the car...so why send those.

I've advertised it here...and not elsewhere. I don't want some kid from vwvortex buying it....doing a round eye conversion, spray bombing it, wedging in a VR6, installing mistmatched Recaros...etc... if that's your plan..please don't take this care off of my hands.
My objective is to sell this car to someone who will finish it...not part it....even if their vision is slightly different than mine....But my look was to be totally OEM+.
Seriously..how many sound original 2 door, w/ sunroof factory turbo diesels are in existence? I could make a fortune parting it..but again, I don't have the time or inclination.
It's an incredibly good deal.... I paid thousands for this car in Dec 2006...and have hours in junk yards getting everything for it.
Cool things like orginal Bosch Pilot driving lights... navy blue interior bits that were missing.... the special air intake diverter behind the headlights that came on the first year diesel pickups.... cabriolet springs (al 4 corners) to give the car a Rally height.... (no GTI should be lowered...they are rally inspired!!!)... if my lifestyle hadn't changed so drastically...and I didn't have the title issues.... I'd have this care down in Mexico with me!

I applaud your efforts in attempting to find a responsible buyer for it.
I, too, really like OEM. Find a buyer from a southwest locale if possible.

I found a very good buyer for it. I won't release his name...but he pulled up in an 82 Rabbit LS 4 Door that looked mint.
He was very enthusiastic....and appears to have followed my efforts over the years to obtain parts for it.... on vwdiesel.net and the poortex.
When he picks the car up..it's full of packages that I have even opened up yet...of odds and ends...sent from UK, Germany, California, etc..... Giving him my entire collection of Bentley's too.

I never find deals like this out in california. If I could I would have a rabbit and a truck right now and probably a stockpile of parts waiting to go in case I blew a tranny or motor. What really hurts is the prices I see in other areas

find me a good rabbit truck and I'll give you a 1.9 TD engine. the truck doesn't have to run, don't care about the title and/or back fees. just need a straight roller.

Car has been picked up. I think the new owner is really going to enjoy it. Probably more than $5000 in car and parts...obtained for $500. He arrived in an 82 Rabbit that was in very nice near stock condition.
