My K03 out of a 1996 golf AAZ has an oil leak which covers the outside of the aluminum housing (snail looking part) with a layer of oil after i run the engine. I just completed swapping this engine into my Vanagon. Turbo is clocked to 6 oclock and oil return line is piped into oil pan to allow downhill draining. Do I have bad seals in my turbo? My crankcase vent system is stock AAZ with the "hockey puck" now at 45 degrees. Does this allow excessive oil to enter the turbo/intake? I took off the rubber boot which connects the turbo to the intake manifold and there was a film of oil covering the insides. What can I do to keep my oil where it belongs.? Thanks, Paolo
It is strange that it is covering the outside of the turbo! Are you sure it is not leaking air from the turbo's outlet? Is the hose to the intake manifold sealed tightly?
Otherwise the only thing I could think of is the big O-ring seal on the compressor side of the turbo housing.
What kind of boost levels are you running?
