temp sender calibration on diesel vanagon
« on: June 08, 2011, 06:04:05 am »
So I have a 82 diesel vanagon.  Can anyone with both the stock temp gauge and an auxilliary temp gauge tell me how hot the coolant is when stock needle is dead center.(directly infront of the warning light.) Thanks, Paolo

Not possible, too big a variation between indicators. Also thermostat, and heater valves [if there are any] changes reading and relationship to head temperature.

Use some form of thermometer to check.

Gauge is merely for showing 'change from usual'

different gauges on different VWs show a different reading for the same temperature FWIW..

thanks for the response. I understand now that there is no standard gauge/temp relationship.  At what water temps are the AAZ's most happy at?  Paolo

about what the other diesels like.. the AAZ is not special,. it doesnt need a special certain temp to run right..
