How many Kms on your AAZ?

Just wondering how many other high-mileage-never-been-overhauled AAZs are running around out there. I have an ECO in a 93 Passat that has over 390,000 kms on it. It starts right up in any weather, has very little blowby, doesn't smoke, and has lots of power (for an Eco) I'm thinking of pulling this motor out of the Passat, which has always been a lemon anyway, and putting it in my Kubvan. I've never come across a 1.6 TD with this mileage on it that was in near this cond. Are 1.9s generally a longer lived engine, or did I just luck out here?

apparently, you found an engine that had maintenance in its life time..

Yes, I bought it from a woman with a long commute to work, whose husband was a heavy equipment operator, and changed the oil religiously.

The ones that don't spit the crankshaft sprocket can last a long time. I have one with 370,000 kms and one with 290,000. Lots of high mileage 1.6s out there too though...

"...religiously changed the oil...."
Is THAT like some sort of ceremony?

I hate changing oil,
does that mean I am going to hell?

I daily drive my 94 Jetta with an AAZ, and I believe the motor has around 380 on it
it was pulled from a Passat and put in it by previous owner who said it had under 200 on it
I have put 180 on since buyin it
Little rough on start up, but then again I have no idea where the timing is at. I don't have a dial indicator.
but still gets in the 40's for mileage when I don't drive 140 kmph everywhere
which i sometimes do......
but yeah, oil changes and John Deere filters. Very religously
There may not be a God. But there is a consequence to not changin oil

I sold one with 450,000km on it and another with 520,000km on it. Neither had any issues. The present engine in my Caddy was rebuilt when it had 400,000km on it and there were no visible issues.

Just as an update: I checked the compression on this motor the other day, and it's showing 430-450 across the board. I think I'll probably throw an oil pump and new lifters into it, check the IM shaft bearings, and if good, run it,
