Turbo Choices
« on: May 15, 2011, 05:13:34 am »
Still working on an 1.9 idi to put into my B5 passat project. I have a number of turbo's available to me for this. As the passat is a heavier vehicle not quite sure which turbo would be best suited for this conversion. Not looking for high performance, just daily functionability. What I have is a K14, K26, K03 a T3 and a GTB2056V. I have the different manifolds and I can do any fab work so that's not going to be a problem, a giles pump is also part of the build - any help appreciated.
If you can't take advice - then you can't be helped!

2056 with the manual controller. Hands down the best choice for functionality, and power.

as long as he doesn't mind making the vgt stuff work, really all those are good choices for turbos, the t3 depends which one you're talking about tho

2056V would be the best IMHO for DD and regular functionality. Of course it will take some fab work but worth it in the long run.

The GTB is like 35-40years newer technology wise, it's a winner! (I have one myself goin' on a 1.6TD ;))
'03 VW Golf PD130 4Motion Highline
'10 VW Passat 1.6TDI Highline
'83 VW Jetta 1.6TD, 11mm pump, H-beam rods, girdle, fully reworked AAZ head +++ Going Compound ;)
