use the head with the smaller prechambers. Port it and run it.

8v-i dont think anyone does know or they are afraid to tell me to do something. I wont blame anyone if my crap gets messed up. i just want some straight answers.
BillyWillicker- Are you just saying that or serious? Ive already ported it, im just waiting on someone to give me advice to run it or not run the NA head.

do this ^ ^ ^
it will work fine. i run a turbo on a complete n/a engine.. so i dont see why you couldnt just use a n/a head..

N/a head will definately work. I was just thinking you didn't want to port the N/a head since you had all the trouble in porting the TD one. Maybe see if you can find some precups for your ported one.

Well ill tell my machinist to go ahead and build the N/A one then. I was probably just freaking out or something.
I did port and polish the N/A one, i dont see why porting it matters. I know the TD is bad so im not even worrying about that.
If you have ran a turbo on a N/A engine it will be alright. its the same size pistons its not like it bigger. but i did bore it .040 over but thats not much

I said this because it will give you a running reliable engine. Thats what you want right?
-edit- That is use the head that you got off the NA engine in the junkyard that has the smaller prechambers in it. Port it out like you did your original head.

Corey, you are safe using the 85 NA "M" head.
Hundreds and thousands have done this already.
It 'might not' be 100% as optimal as another TD Head.
But - proceed as you had intended.
From reading this thread - the answers were mainly based on confusions. It reads like some thought you wanted to just swap PreCups from head to head.
Guys, he wants to use the whole "M" head from the 85 NA.
He's already ported and polished that one ("M" head).
Not the original TD head ("E").
His factory Mk1 TD head ("E") had Severe case of cracks.
All 4 Mk1 TD engines i have observed that were apparently very original - have had "E" heads. Wolfsburged's 84 included.
Have only observed 3 1985 NA engines - but all 3 had "M" heads.
The 3 local and all original 85 TD cars - all have "N" heads.
Both of my Hyd. TD engines have "T" heads. fwiw

Thanks Baron!
Ill tell the machine shop to go ahead with the (M head)
2 of the Precups on the M head has just falling out, To get them to stay back in im going to hit the sides with a hammer so they will stay maybe put locktite on them. What yall think?

i have a mk1 TD engine, dunno exactly (83-84 i imagine, build dates of 82 on many pieces) what year it is, has a "N" head.. solid lifters
its the right head too, dimples in the pre chambers and everything..

i don't think they can spin in there can they? i haven't seen one with loose chambers in a while, but as long as they're in straight they should be fine

No they cant spin, they have a nipple that sticks out to keep it from turning.
