1.6 TD combustion prechambers (new) are available
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:48:12 pm »
My first post; been lurking awhile, learning until I have something to contribute...I have a unmolested two-owner 1983 Jetta (CY engine, FN trans) Mexico beige 4DR that's pretty tired with 221K miles, so I've got motor & trans out, motor torn down, and now starting rebuild process.

Trying to keep as many German parts as possible, and since head passed a leak test and is flat, I'll re-use it.    But, 3 of the prechambers had some significant cracks and I've had a devil of a time finding new or even good used replacements.   Success!!   They are available new from:

EUROCAR Togliani s.r.l.
Via Monte Ortigara 2A/2B
20010 BAREGGIO (Milano) - ITALIA

Tel. (+39) 02 9013287
Fax (+39) 02 90276307

www.eurocartogliani.191.it

They look really good, but are about .1mm larger in overall diameter dimension of the short flange that is closest to the piston top.   What's the best way to install?   I plan to measure for slight interference fit, flycut the prechamer bore if necessary, then heat the head to 250 degrees, install, and then stake/peen the surrounding head aluminum.  comments on this procedure?

Parts arrived in four days from Italy via TNT air express.    - p.s. How do you include pictures in post?

Nice to know, what did you have to pay for them?

For pics you need to upload them to something like photobucket and from there you hold the mouse over the picture and a thing pops up with a urls, htmls and one called IMG (IIRC). I think you gotta paste it to the page you writing on and somehow it ends up there. You can preview your post to see if it looks right before posting it.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

@ rabbitman - - 17.3 euro's each; I got 4 for my engine & another 4 for my machine shop.  Shipping was 42 euro's via TNT air.  Thanks for the help on how to post photos.

I'm intending to use a new ALH VNT-15 with integrated manifold+turbo with a Mk II gasser intake manifold I already have that has the inlet on driver's side.   How did you mount your VNT-15 turbo and what kind of downpipe did you use?  Also, did you have any vane control?

I had a shop bend my downpipe and then I did the fine adjusting, cost 10 bucks to get it bent and then another 25 for the flex section.

A vnt will bolt right up perfect fit. The only thing is depending on what intake you use you might need to cut off the egr port.

I didn't have a vane control.
