Lightly used Topline 1.6 head, 2 1.6NA engines
« on: April 22, 2011, 07:05:01 pm »
I have a Topline 1.6 IDI head. It was rebuilt and used before the guy parted the car. Supposedly has less than 3000 mile. Not a lot of soot in the exhaust ports. I believe its a hydraulic head but look at the pics and let me know. Also, for a deal, there are 2 engines, 1 mechanical head running, and 1 hydraulic head unknown if to run.

The Topline head ~ $300 + shipping

The 1.6's NAs ~ $500 for both, picked up. I can deliver 200 miles for $1/mile.

Head pics:

No engine pics other than:

Running one

Non running

Let me know!

That head looks like it has hydraulic lifters but then the second oil drain is plugged ???
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I think it is for putting it on a mechanical block. Someone else said this on here but I cannot remember how I found it.

Didn't topline make them to fit everything? They will fit 11mm and 12mm blocks mech or hydro? I think you can pull that plug for hydro and leave it for mech. I could be wrong as I have never had a topline head, but I remeber someone saying something about that.

yes, thats exactly how it seems..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I've heard that too although I don't believe it yet. IIRC the bolts have .5 inch spacers under them which seems like for shorter 11mm bolts but the bolt hole is still for 12mm. You'd have a fun time centering the head on the block...........
