Orig Tstat is best, but after 19 year and two NEW ones, I try drive without and my temp can`t pass 60 c.
With new(after that 2) I get fast 80 c ,but not mach going in past 90 c, for my needs I like this.
ps. Talking about temp I mesured disel return on 20 c out side, fan do more than ones -and it`s 60 c belive or not
ROR'S correct in CAN at least, everything past 86 got plastic stuff where-ever they could put it. I think the deisels didn't get them till 88'. I have a 90 jetta that has all the plastic crap. Whenever I can find aluminum water fittings I change them and throw the plastic away. My .02$ My Mk3 has plastic thermostat housing below water pump, but no option to change that one!
