• Someone whom i trust to know, just told me that the OEM turbo that was installed in the Mk3 AHU Jetta are becoming harder to find. Anyone know otherwise?

• well, ahu's were only produced for 1 year in the usa, but for now the only "hard to find" aspect is that they are expensive new.  Someone I know had a new dealer unit installed last year, so they are not hard to find yet. HArd to find nice shape and cheap - yes.

  LOTS of turbos could have been sold in 1 years time..

  well, if you are selling more units than the manufacturer is making, then yea, the parts become harder to find/more rare..
  
  and if the manufacturer quits making the parts all together, then yes, the parts get rare..
  
  im not sure what the case is here, tho..

• even if they are getting "rarer" borg warner makes a new one that is nearly identical for several hundred less, my guy has the BW for a little over 600! Dealer cost on the garrett or kkk is 900 or so.

• I don't think they are becoming hard to find. Its just that these turbos are beginning to hit the mileage where they needing replacement. The KKK and BW turbos can be found. I know I had one brand new and then decided to upgrade before I installed it.
