An E-pump still has almost all  the frequently failing parts  an M pump does, costs more to replace, and the ECU is almost twice as much as an M pump, yet has no analogue on the IDI car.

OK well if an EMP comes then yes the ECU is a downfall..

But other than that, the 1.9 TDI in a whole, is in every way better than the 1.6 IDI.

were not talking every way better..

were talking simplicity..

the 1.6 needs NO ELECTRICITY TO RUN if you install a marine fuel solenoid, or take the pill out of the one it has already..

only way a TDI does that, is with a mechanical pump..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
