rev counter wire...
« on: March 23, 2011, 05:52:15 pm »
My car has the rev counter, and I believe it takes its feed from the alternator, however the wire is dangling and there doesn't seem to be a male spade on the alternator anywhere. I have a black plastic cover for the end of the alternator that has a connection for it, but the wire on the inside of the black plastic cover has broken off. Where on the alternator do I connect the loose wire to make my rev counter work?

There should be a connection set apart from the rest marked "W". If not you might have the wrong alternator.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

the plastic cover that broke off has the W connection, but the wire on the inside of the plastic cover has broken off. I've heard that the wire attaches to one of the 3 red wires on the back, as theyre a 3 pahse alternator? I need to know which one of these 3 parts I need to reconnect the wire to?
