guess i'm a little bored here at work and i looked up the top 10 posters on this forum. (quantity of posts... not quality  )
turns out 6 are canadian, and 4 are from the US.
does this mean we are a canadian forum!!??
i think its great that we have such a strong diesel following up here, and i'm glad to know about this forum. i often tell other diesel owners about vwdiesel.net and they are always happy i did. great resource here and big thanks to red rotors for all the work he's done for us.

I definitely think this forum has a strong Canadian slant - after all, the first set of sections are in French.
Doesn't mean that an uh-mur-can like me can't be here, tho

According to the list of top 10 posters, US has a total of 3085 posts and CA 3142 posts (including this one)... so it's pretty close

50.46% for CA and 49.54% for US.
fspGTD and a good number of other US members have been excellent contributors over a long time. I'm starting to see some increase of Canadians w/ quality posts too.
The French forums at the top probably wouldn't exist if RedRotors, the admin of this site, wasn't based in Quebec or bilinguistic.

Being bilinguistic has good advantages; more people are willing to check out this site!

It's sort of fun to open the french portion of the site with google translator, and try to read the posts there. If you're good at inferring meaning from the wrong words that come out, you can sometimes follow them.
If we had a spanish one, I could do better...

I'm glad we have a strong Canadian group here- we gotta have some way to sneak 1.9 AAZ's across the border.

I appreciate the kind words Mark!

I hope to sometime make a trip up there north of the border and meet some of you GTD Board cheeseheads! Perhaps this summer.

Well, a few lines of history about this forum.. Joe ( RabbitGTD ) and i, met somewhere on the net ( it's a pity, but i don't remember where ) and after a few chat, we decide to open a diesel forum, not this one but this one ( vwgtd.hopto.org ) It was a nice place, but without the flexibility that we have now.. So we lived there a few years and Joe suddenly dissapear..

A few members ask me if it was possible to have something more convenient so i found an hosting place and bought the vwdiesel.net name..
So here we are now, with around 1000 members many sections.. This is a real nice place..
We had to make a GTD fest sometime.. with the guys over the border.. a big one..

Cheers,
Marc/

Greetings all,
I'm the new guy on the block. I learned about you through TDICub.com and since I'm a diesel geek I thought it would be a good move to join in and add to the group. I'm one of the South of the Border members but have visited the chilly North country several times. I also wanted to learn about the starting problems you guys may have that we in the warmer climates don't. Hope to visit BC & the Rockies this summer.
Glad to be here.
Robert
