Considering a purchase of a 1995 Golf mk3 1.9 Turbo Diesel.
« on: March 21, 2011, 01:45:44 pm »
So a friend of mine that has a 1995 Mk3 golf Turbo Diesel with 275k on the engine/chassis.

It's a semi basic version of the mk3, but has AC that works, Cruise, and Power doors.

It's a 5speed manual, and unlike mine all 5 gears work, just the differential is making some noise.

It's been meticulously taken car of and with the mileage the way it is, i think it's a worth while buy towards something more modern than my car.

And he's offering it to me for roughly 3grand.

Looks like i might be parting out my mk2 diesel in the near future :)

Just remember the odometers roll over at 300,000. Could be 575,000......

If the word "Total" still appears in the odo it has *not* rolled over yet.   :)

Not that it's apples-to-apples, but I paid $2500 for my '96 with 320K on it along with a new battery, starter, tie rod ends, rear shock mounts and rear wheel cylinders.  Mine doesn't have air, but has power sunroof and door locks.  It's also (bodywise) in very good shape, as the PO had regularly oiled it.

Not at all bad.

I'm seriously debating buying the 95, keeping my 90 jetta, and having a friend and I tear down the jetta while I drive the golf for the summer. The jetta's not giving me problems even with the transmission missing 5th. We shall see.
