heater core
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:28:32 pm »
It is unfortunate that my car, an 84 Jetta TD, is one of those which has the heater hoses going through the firewall to connect with the heater.  my old Porsche was also this way.  What a stupid idea!  I do know that other years are not like this in that the metal pipes from the heater extend into the engine compartment.  Does anyone know which years have the longer heater connections?  I just dread the idea of pulling the whole dash out just to change the bloody heater hoses!  I have begun to smell coolant inside the car, so I know the day draws near.  To date, all other coolant hoses on the car have been replaced.

Heater cores in mk1's canb e done in an hour or less and there is no need to remove the dash... thats the mk3's and newer :(  8hrs for those ones.
