I do know that I drive torque, while listening to my friends prattle on about horsepower.
Delco Remy for cheap and pletiful.. But you need the pulley from on of the short shaft alts....
maybe even steal its coolant neck with the three glow plugs built in to it for aiding in coolant warm-up

I've tried that, and a few other home brew rigs using glow plugs and the difference is practically unnoticeable.. Surface area seems to be the problem.. I'm thinking some variety of heated grid in the bypass hose would be they key.. The search continues...If I ever get around to putting an engine in my car I think I'm going to opt for one of the Ford 3G alts as found on the 3.0 ohv Taurus.. 130amps and very plentiful... They already have the wire off the stator for the tach too...
Interesting....someone needs to grab one and pull some measurements. I'm running a A2 90amp gasser alt on my A1, on a non a/c bracket. It also adjusts from the top with spherical end links. I'm curious that the width of the mounting sleeve is. Anyone know what wires are in the 3 pin plug on the regulator? Is this thing self exciting?-Todd
Come on, I'm not that clueless. I'm referring to the pins on that Ford regulator. VW regulators don't have any wires.-Todd
