all my filter flanges have a fiber gasket under the bleeder..
IF it weren't for the 4l80e trans I think I would have done that on my '98 after the PMD failed the second time.. A stand alone controller for the trans was pushing $600, the D-Tech PMD was $200.. And since I already had the relocation kit (which is worth twice what they cost for the added ease of replacing these things) it didn't involve much work.. They guy I sold that truck too has put a crapload of miles on it and it's still going strong...Other than the PMD and the speed sensor in the pump, the electronics aren't too terribly horrid on those.. It seems that GM had an optical sensor fetish for a while there, and the one in the pump is optical.. Very precise, but not so durable.. Dirt and water screws with them royally.. I've heard rumors that the dye in offroad fuel can stain the lense and screw with them, but I've not verified that...
funny you say something about that..his truck is full of red fuel..
