Lacking power ? hit your IP with big channel locks!
« on: March 17, 2011, 03:27:31 pm »
So the beater 98 AHU jetta [ 450,000kms plus] I bought from a friend was missing power. I checked all the usual, and replaced all the relative vacuum hoses, including the one inside the ECU, with no real change. No smoke on full pedal. I read another post about the same question someone else had and somebody mentioned that the fuel inlet solenoid may not be fully retracting, which is something i never though of before. I figured it worked or didn't. Any who i figured i would look at it and found another one i had lying around to replace it. I couldn't get a wrench on properly because of the rust scaled off and not it's not 24mm anymore, but more like 23mm. Tried using channel locks, but of course i couldn't place them the right way and gave up until i had more time. In all of this i had to remove the connection [ directly bolted on rather that the clip on connector] and this must of cleaned the connection- SO NOW 12V  gets to the solenoid. BAM power is all back ! wheee
