Greyhound shipping feedback
« on: March 09, 2011, 08:28:28 pm »
Hi everybody.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I shipped a pair of Recaro seats successfully from IN to CA using the Greyhound bus.  It took a few weeks but they made it in one piece.  If anyone is considering shipping big, heavy stuff and thinks UPS is too expensive, make sure and look into Greyhound.  By the way, funkaholik bought them from me and he is a great guy to do business with!  Thanks for looking and ask me any questions about shipping if you want.

And more importantly, what was Greyhound's weight limit?
Last year, I received a beautiful 1942 Olds baritone horn through Greyhound and the service was great, too.

Cardboard and tape and they were close to the weight limit being around 50 lbs each.

I had a set of '72 Buick fenders shipped years back..  They were just wrapped in that industrial plastic wrap they use on pallets..  Excellent service, granted I had to drive an hour to the nearest bus depot, but it was crap loads cheaper than having freight company bring them to my door..   And the best part was they only hands that touched them in shipping was the bus driver's..  No dip----s at a terminal tossing them around and dinging them up..

I'm all for greyhound shipping, as long as I don't have to ride on the bus.

I have received a pair of Corrado seats for my caddy via Greyhound, stacked together in one box for less than $85.00. Shipped other stuff and got great turnaround, depending on day of week. Three (3) days to south Florida from Texas.

I got a set of 66 bug heater channels with quarters and a fuel tank jammed between the for 100 bucks shipped from CA. It was a big package and it took a week. The thing to remember...freight will get pushed out in favor of rider luggage...so if its too big its going to get delayed more.

But even then id get darn near everything shipped with them.

I got a set of Rabbit fenders shipped Greyhound from Washington to New York and it worked great. Cheap, easy and no problems. They were simply packaged in several layers of big bubble wrap.

I got a big box from Calgary from Vincent a few years ago - didn't take much time at all.  Definitely an option for those of us in Canada too!! No idea about cross-border though.
