Nerd Kits....
« on: March 08, 2011, 04:28:40 pm »
Just get all the jokes outta the way now..  ::)

Anyone ever see one of these, or maybe have one? http://www.nerdkits.com/

I saw them advertised on Adult Swim a few weeks ago and was intrigued..  I have some basic electronic knowledge, read tons on the matter,  but I'd like to take it a step further.. I need something hands on now, and I need some sequential LED turn signals for the Rabbit  8)....

Returning to academia (again) just to enhance my endeavors in mayhem doesn't really appeal so much.  And not much is offered as far as a non degree electronics course.. I thought this looked like a nice starter kit for some hands on ejumakashon...  Thoughts?

Brett... If you figure this out.. My Mercury's sequentials are on the fritz LMAO

Seems pretty cool man, I would be interested to doing up some sequencing turns.. The Jetta has spots for three lower bulbs..

I think. however.. the long rabbit tails would be better suited lol

Sequential turns are one of many projects on the list...   Been a while, but aren't the turns on your Cougar some sort of electro mechanical rig??

Yeah they are. I would loooove to replace them with a LED microchip controlled system.

There is about a dozen switches, half dozen relays, a spinning motor with a camshaft and three different size lobes, about 27 miles of wiring.. blink three lights...

LOL I can buy a kit that is a direct swap in to replace ALLLLL of that crap. but its price tag is a near $190.. Mind you if I had that $$$ sittin round i'd buy it up real quick

long rabbit tails have one turn signal, and 2 brake lights..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

From the factory, yes..   When I'm done, hopefully not...  ;)

The LED panels are no problem, and I have made a crude sequential blinker using a series of  relays and low amperage bi-metal circuit breakers.. There's really nothing wrong with that setup other than it's bulky and kind of messy.. That is it's harder to get working with LED's.
