Poor fuel or change in temperature?
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:31:53 pm »
Hi all, I'm a newb to diesels, so forgive my ignorance and newb-tastic questions...

I've got a '96 Golf TD, and I've been running fuel from Canadian Tire, until today.  I had to fill up at a different station (busy PetroCanada), and all today I've noticed I'm blowing black smoke when I accelerate in 3rd gear... normally I only see the smoke when I put my foot into it in 4th or 5th.

Of course it was warmer today than usual, so am I seeing a temperature effect, or will different quality diesel cause this to happen?
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
