My 92 Golf TD Build thread

So being that i'm new here and have some decent plans for my Golf ... i figured i would post up here what im doing.
Car came in on trade. 92 Golf N/A Diesel. Blown headgasket and 229,xxxKM . Glowplug fuse was blown and the PO was using sure start to get it fired . Body in in near perfect condition !
I had a 86 Jetta TD with a rotting body sitting in my garage.. so this was perfect. I had already put new suspension and lowering springs , a-piler pod and pop off valve delete plug onto the car so all parts were taken off that could be used
The car was towed into my work.. and after 4.5 hours the jetta was ready for scrap and engine/trans , suspensions and wheels were in/on the golf.
The next day we were so slow at work i had pretty much all day to get the car running. So other then a couple small jobs I worked away.. and by 3:15 the car was fired up and rolling into the wash bay
Parked it outside for a bit. But for the most park it was in the shop before i started driving it
After Swapping out the grill on my GTX for Quad rounds i opted to replace the broken areo grill with the GTX , which has the blacked out Badge
On the Road !
I have started getting parts together for a small intercooler setup. Currently going to be using a 01 1.9TDi SMIC. Also have a factory 2011 AUdi Q7 TDI charge air hose to use. I like using lots of factory parts lol.
Had a spare set of 1.9TD injectors that i got from BCD, so i started taring them down for rebuild and GTD nozzles.
Thats about where i'm at right now.... Hope to have the intercooler on soon. Also waiting to pick up a Autometer Diesel Tach. Oh i have also removed the muffler and replaced it with straight pipe... sounds great !
A Pic of my friends 93 GTi 1.9TD swap and my Golf TD
Sorry for the bad quality pics... can't find my camera right now

Was going to to some little stuff tonight on the car, but right around 3:30 I did some damage to my thumb and had to leave work. Not cool.

How does the Autometer tach work? Where does it get it's signal?

uses a inductive pickup that gets clamped to the alternator. Very good quality gauge kit. Hope to get it installed over the next day or so.

Wow, I wish soooooo bad I'd seen that tach back when I was trying to find one for my rabbit. Instead I got a tiny-tach which is digital and gets it's signal from a thing clamped to the injector line. I like analog way better.
BTW nice golf, how do you like only having 2 doors?

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.
I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Ya i prefer analog gauges too. Glad i stumbled upon this one.
Thanks ! Love the 2 door ! I had a four door TD before which was great....and i had to sell my Montana Green GTi 16V to make room for it....so now...this is the best of both worlds . Plus I still have my GTX

Also got the lock off the adjustment screw... turned it up a bit... boost is way harder and faster coming on. Also now likes to sit at 20psi... haha and it smokes ! Finally !

Thats awsome!! It looks great. How is the autometer tach working for you? I was going to get one but finally found a cluster with a tach in it. Those ecodes look awsome. Is the light output alot nicer?

Corrado steelies are some of the nicest looking wheels around, imo. I don't know what it is about them but they seem to look so good on mk1's and 2's. And they look even better widened!

So i decided that the Raddo Steelies are going on the Golf ! Going crazy with the jettas wheels. Plus the Steelies will look good on the golf i thnk.
Also took my Votex racks off the Jetta and put them on the golf . Really liking the way its looking with them on ! Can't wait to get a box/basket and get some camping done this year !

Got the Autometer tach Installed today finally. Still have to clean up the wiring a bit in the cabin but for the most part it's done !
I Highly suggest this gauge to people looking for an aftermarket solution . Easy to calibrate. VERY VERY responsive. Love everything about it .
