i heard a person saying he puts 1L of vegitable oil in his tank for every full tank, is this a good idea? and if it is could you put old filtered oil in the same way 1L to a tank

Check out tdiclub.com there are more than a few who practice this with nothing ill happening over many thousands of kilometers. I have been doing this for the last 20k km+ and all I can say is the fuel is helped out by the non-hydrogenated conola oil and the car seems to run better to me. More or less the VIRGIN oil is used as a cetane enhancer and lubrication enhancer (for the pump and injectors). I wouldn't go more than the 2% or so the 1L/tank is htough unless you want to convert fully.
I would not put old filtered oil in, but people have and do.

so as long as it isn't hydrogenated oil it's alright, and one liter to a tank is the limit?

Well in the summer I'd fell safe with 10% myself, but I am not saying to do that! Yes stay away from hydrogenated oil and you should be just fine. I do 1L year round now and nothing has happened (ie gelling etc). I have pulled my injectors to check them out and just a nice coal black not "coked" etc. The real danger with SVO is that too much and you'll end up with gobs of it commingout ofhte nozzle, and it is really thick not going where is is supposed to and burning up on the cylinder walls etc.
I might be anal but I have also installed an electric lift pump 2gph@3psi to assist ye old pump at higher rpm's and when it is cold outside
Worked fine before the pump just works better now, more high rpm power it appears to me and over all better response. It can't hurt the low pressure side of the the pump either if you ask me.

I used ~10% several times this past summer in my 97 TDI, when fuel prices spiked & VO was on sale for less than diesel
I didn't notice any discernable differences, mebbe quieter, mebbe smoked less, but could have been entirely psychosomatic :?
I did it just to see what would happen, how it would run...and to see the look on people's faces in the grocery store parking lot when I poured it in LMAO :twisted:

i converted an 02 tdi to run on 100% svo. its been running for over 11000 miles and its running great. its worth the extra time and cost to convert to 100% svo.
