WTB Core support
« on: February 05, 2011, 07:30:45 pm »
I am seeing if anyone has a core support that was for mk2 GTI with the round headlights. Can be new, used, or wrecked. Preferably wrecked as I am going to cut it all up for the IC anyway. I was thinking about making a jig for it after it is done so if someone wanted to convert to rounds and put an IC up front with the factory a/c it would be easy.
At any rate I need the support first. Let me know.

I just got my core, but apparently NAPA can order the core for 105 bucks

I have one but I think shipping across the border would be too pricey to make it worthwhile to you.

I just looked at rockauto and they have a core support for $43 but idk if it's for round or not.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I can't find any core supports on rock auto.
As much as I don't condone using his engine stuff this is an item that prothe should carry. So what if the support doesn't fit the grill perfectly a little bending and drilling and it is good...nothing like a timing belt that would leave you stranded and broke. Heck the support maybe fine from him as BFI and others are all importing it anyway.

Rockauto calls it a radiator support.

You can have it for free, just pay the shipping cost. It's used. I was going to convert to rounds but never got around to it and am planning on selling my mk2. What's your zip code? I'll have to find a box big enough and I'll send you the shipping quote.

and the last core support I got, which was for westy's and not rounds, the guy just put a sticker on the core support and let it rip. As long as there is some sort of tracking I am fine with that. I will paint and weld it anyway so if it gets scuffed I won't be frail about it :D

Thanks I had an 86 and searched GTI as that should have been the rounds.
I called rockauto and they had no info on if it was round headlights or not, but these # are what it should replace and the pic is of rounds. 176805591, 176805591BCPD, 191805591      so if anyone knows VW #s and wants new there you go.

At any rate I would love to have yours Rally as it is known Rounds :D Let me know what you need as I have my IC now and want to put it all together in one shot. I will send a PM with my complete address. Thanks Lucas><>
