Door Removal?!?

OK, So how do you disengage the stay that prevents over opening?
Ive concluded that you need to pull the pin that connects it to the door jamb.
But there is no room to swing a hammer and drift upwards (if that is how it comes apart) and the passenger door hits the wall before its fully open!
Who has had a go at this already?
Poised with tools in hand.....

theres a small clip on the bottom of the pin holding the door stay to the body..
these doors are cake to take off.. only 2 bolts and one clip.. unless you got power windows, or speakers in your door..

Except its not a clip. Its a two part fastening, a pin and and the "clip" is pressed on to the pin from below, in the factory, by a big powerful machine that knew, twenty five years later that I, a mere mortal, would want to undo its work.
I'm going to get out the grinder

I see no reason why this pin could not be replaced by a small bolt or similar..

I over reacted, I apologize. Low blood sugar, ageing eyes
I did grind the top of the pin and removed it to find the "clip", once truly visible and its working plane to see, is light weight pressed steel and easily pried off although designed to be used once.
A bolt and lock nut would make a good replacement.

my clips were the re-useable kind, like the big ones that hold the brake pedal/clutch pedals on, and the pin in the e-brake handle..
they were just like those ones, just little..

To replace them, of you can find a newer car, like a 91, they had a pin/bolt thing that was designed to replace the pin and clip.
