crying while typing.....parting out an 81 jetta.....
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:09:58 am »
UPDATE:  Car is no longer for sale or getting parted at the moment.  Things have worked out quite well lately, and I've been able to get back into my home and have a place to work on the problem.  I want to apologize to any folks that fell like I have been stringing them along.  I'm very excited to tear into the motor and get it back up and running.  Its a great new beginning for me, and I think the jetta's gonna benefit big time from it.  thanks y'all.

I really hate to do this, as this was the first mk1 I really tried hard to fix it right.  life has thrown me eight curve balls and no walks..... :-[.  the jetta has a dead number three cylinder, so I figure the bottom end is shot and will need a rebuild.  runs but smokes like hell.  The car isn't worth much as whole down in ashland, but the parts go on.  If someone really wants the whole car, I'd let it go for 1500.  I would throw in all the black stuff I have to swap the interior over the rest of the way, spare pump, etc.  I'm going to get it towed to where I'm gonna strip it sometime this week, and will have it done by next week.  other goodies include

1.6 diesel...strong runner right up until this
good FF trans..no grinds
good glass all around
all the trim
less than 1000 miles bilstein sports in freshly painted housings/rears are new as well
rocco wheel
complete ce1 wiring for diesel with fuse box bumper to bumper uncut except the rear harness
fully complete interior
just finishing a set of early strut bearings...
it goes on and on.......

my god don't strip that car fix it or sell it to someone who'll fix it.
Look, if corn and kudzu fall in love and have a baby in a lab under the supervision of scientists working in my employ, WHO AM I TO STOP THAT other than the CEO responsible for stopping it???

Easy for you to say.......... :)

Good luck. I had an 84 4 door in the same color, after getting rid of my 82 2 door (again, before the internet...).

Brings back memories. Again, good luck either way.

Stay safe, stay well, stay warm....Jimmy.

how much for the rocco wheel and what size are those dubs?

those dubs look like some 13x6 Enkei type 92s

and i believe they are straight 92s also.. not bent!

DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW EASY IT IS TO BEND THE INSIDE LIP OF AN ENKEI 92?!?!?!

and i believe these are the later version of the 92, the early version takes a special style of wheel weight..

great mk1 wheels!!
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
