Need to know what year. Some earlier ones used a metal cover, while the later models used a plastic one. Year/make/model. It is stock as far as you know? Like, someone didn't swap an older motor in it and just hack the P/S motor mount off vs changing the IP brackets/etc.

its a timing BELT cover..

there be no valves under that cover.. they are under the one on the top of the engine.  8)
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

Doesn't matter what the engine code is.
What car are you putting it in?
That determines what upper cover you need.
Tornado red, '91 Golf 4 door,
with a re-ringed, '84 quantum, turbo diesel, MD block

I'm in the East Bay and have a few timing belt covers.  Is the inside cover (against the engine) there? In that case you just need the outer piece.  It just clips on + one bolt.  Otherwise you need both pieces, and putting the inside piece on is a lot more complicated.  I may have both metal and plastic types.  Let me know what you need and I'll dig in some boxes.

Good to see there are some other IDI diesel drivers in the Bay Area...

the metal cover has no plate that bolts to the engine. its basically the whole cover in one piece..

i like the plastic covers. they are way nicer to take off and put back on.

I have a metal cover I'll trade for an upper plastic one--or i'd be interested in buying one. I also need 1 clip.
