Anyone know where to look for a Mitusubishi turbo diesel engine?
Just got a truck with a stuck motor. Not worth rebuilding.
Thanks for any ideas
Pete

Here is a 2.5 liter from a Pajero. I believe it is the same block, just different stroke and bore.

yeah, I see the 2.5's on ebay occasionally.  They were the newer version of the 2.3  You might try googling 4D55T and see if it comes up with anything.  I saw one for sale from a diesel engine reseller recently.  The 2.5 liter is a 4D56T, and I think it was set up with an intercooler on some of them, whereas the 2.3 liter wasn't, at least on the US pickups.  Also, they were in Dodge D50, Mitsubishi might max, and Ford Ranger pickups ('85 to '88), so if you can find any of them....  they're quite rare though.

You might want to try some of the Canuck JDM importers, they get in Mitsu diesels, vehicles, half-cuts and engines.

The chilton's manual for the mitsubishi mighty max actually has a bit of info on the 4D55T engine -- stuff like torque values, clearances, rated HP and torque, etc...  I don't have my handy now, but I remember that it's pretty good.

zyewdall,

do you have the specs for the 4d55t?  I noticed looking up some info on the 2.5 liter version it had the same bore as the 2.6 l gasser. I think the block is the same for all three.  I could not find any more info such as stroke rod hole sizes etc.  i have a 2.6 in my d-50 and would like to see about converting it to diesel.

The info I have for them is the 2 liter gas (G63B) is 3.35" bore, 3.46" stroke
the 2.3 liter diesel (4D55T) is 3.59" bore, 3.54" stroke,
and the 2.6 liter gas (G54B) is 3.59" bore, 3.86" stroke

So, yes, it does appear that it could be the same block for the 2.3 liter diesel and the 2.6 liter gas.
