I'm wanting to upgrade the clutch on my 1.6td.
So I'm looking for a flywheel that will take a 16v pressure plate and has small splines for a 020 transmission.
I think I have that right,
you need a 16v pressure plate.
and an 8v clutch disk.
and a 9 bolt flywheel.. gasser flywheels are lighter than diesels. but i wouldnt go with a lighter than stock flywheel unless you turn more rpms than the factory governor allows..
the 6 bolt diesel flywheel wont work with the 16v pressure plate.
Yup, watch how many dowels the flywheel has as some later ones have two and may not fit the 16V pressure plate. The dowels I think are removable, but not sure if one is removed it the TDC mark is in the right spot. Also-if and older gasser flywheel(one dowel)- before you mount it mark a TDC mark (I think about 5/8" from 6° timing mark) for properly timing the diesel.
Thanks guys,
I now understand!
Whilst we are at it...
Are all pressure plates/ discs created equal?
Techtonics (Sachs) and ACT both sell suitable PP/ disc combinations. The yellow paint and price suggest the ACT is the better
I would guess the Sachs is OEM and the 16v put out what, 140hp?
Opinions?
I have a flywheel and pressure plate for you but no disc.
