It's amazing how much some people think their trash is worth. I went to look at a non-running, beat down Rabbit that a guy wanted $1500 for. Hatch was rusted through, carpet literally had what looked like algae growing on it. All four tires were flat. Had over 450k km on it. You can keep it.

if it were an engine that i could drop in, hook up fuel, exhaust, and air, and go to town maybe.
but that engine got hot enough to cook the head, and i think he said he heat siezed it also..
he basically wants brand new price for it, but knocked the price in half because he bought it for 2200 as a complete engine. im going to kindly pass.
any of you canadians want to make some massive points + a little cash? find me an engine.. its road trip time!

good deal, but if im spending over a grand, whatever i just bought better atleast have 4 tires, brakes, a tranny and a fuel tank too.. and be able to drive my happy ass home.. lol.
sorry guys, im just a bit of a cheapskate..
i really wish i had 1200 bucks to just drop on an engine..
but when i drop that much cash, i usually get a new vehicle.

Rings probably got hot and when siezure happend. I have had/seen SBC do this if you really flog one. Usually the fix for them is to put about a 10ft cheater pipe on and break it loose. Usually it runs better than it did before, but has HG issues. I have never heard of a VW doing it until now. Great job.

Whats the rule with these old diesels?
"If it runs don't touch it

"

it had barely any low end power for a while after it happened. then it got its low end back, and started firing up better when cold.. im gonna do an oil change, cut the filter open, see what it has to say, and keep driving it.
definitely smokes more when its cold tho. but i think i may have burnt the tips off a couple GPs.. the dome light doesnt dim as much as it used to when i hit the plugs.
still havent checked compression. i really should.
