I have a 1.6 with an AGS that I got a 3.67 gear set in it. It has nuts at 80 in 4th and 5th. I think there is too big a gap between 1st and 2nd, but there isn't much choice in those gears. I also went with the 80% kit. I didn't have the $ for the peloquin, but the 80% kit works well. I also had to put 100mm flanges on the trans to do the 80% kit and then the CV's to go with that. You can use the 80% kit with the peloquin and from what I read it comes with the ARP bolt kit or used to...that would be the way to go.

I know what a peloquin is but whats an 80% kit??

I can swap in a 3.67 gear set from mu AUG into my AGS.. would that do? I have the 100mm flanges and cv joints lying around.
This is the 80% kit which can be used with the full peloquin diff.

The design of the 020's differential already provides a very small amount of "limited slip" due to friction in the cross pinions (I believe there's a spring kind of between them) - from the factory I've heard them referred to as a '20%' limited slip in that it will still try and keep 20% of the torque in to the wheel that is not slipping.  As the tranny wears though that number becomes smaller.

An 80% kit is a tighter spring with associated hardware that is installed between the cross pinions that provides more friction.  It will try and keep the torque within 80% to both wheels.  It's not a true limited slip, but it's a well tried and tested modification for VW's transmission design.  Kind of an economy way to improve the existing differential.
