Ultra low mileage 2001 Jetta TDI 5speed

Hallo,

It seems I'm upgrading my Mk1 1.6 N/A to a 2001 TDI with 5 speed. The car belongs to a friend of mine's mother. It's got 41.000KM (!) on it. It is spotless inside out. I'm gonna use for work which means 50+K/year. The car is original, always dealer serviced and kept in heated garage. Is there anything at all I should be looking at before buying? I'm not worried about it as I have a 2000 B5 passat wagon with now over 200K and never had any issues with it at all but it's still worth checking. She just bought a van and looking to sell this one. The asking price is on the VERY high side but I like the low mileage.

Any thoughts?

I would get the TDI!!! That's a sweet deal, mines got 431K and still running strong

Are you putting the TDI motor in the mk1? Or just driving the 2001? Lol either way.... DOOoO ItTtT! You will not be dissapointed.. And heck you still got at minimum another 400,000km out of it!! Lol;)

Well I bought it.....
To call it clean is an understatement. The T-belt was done last year ;D
I actually bought a car cover on my way back as I don't have a garage and I will cover it for the night during the winter.
I did over pay for a 2001 but with the mileage it's well worth it. I've been looking for a 2005 tdi passat wagon but they either have 9999988887 kms or they cost a lot of $$$$$
So this was OK.

BTW my MK1 is up for grabs. As much as I love it, I have no room for 3 cars and a wife.....:)

Your in the GTA, what kind of Mk1 are we speaking here :P I live an hour north of you lol

I'll stick it in the classifieds on Saturday morning. Won't have time till then.
It's a 4 door with nice body and Giles pump, 5spd. I can only judge the engine by it starting in -20.....:)
