leaking ip from bottom?

i started to smell fuel ther other day and i noticed that my ip was leaking, not from the nose but from the bottom, i can see a drip every once in a while, what would leak at the bottom of the ip? the cold start linkage? time for a Giles Pump?

thats on the front (side) tho, and easy to see if it were leaking..

im gonna bet on the cold start shaft seal.. thats what always leaks for me.

whats even worse is that i live in northwestern Ontario, right now its -40*c. Im not going outside in my un-heated garage to fix a leaky injector pump. so my question is will it mess anything up if i run it like this till i can fix it? there's no power loss or anything, just a small fuel leak. pretty much see it dripping out of the cold start linkage area so its definitely that seal.

Should not be any damage. You will have to live with the smell and the mess. Might want to get some cardboard to place under the car when parked at home as diesel tends to form an obvious concrete mess that could really piss-off a landlord or someone else with influence.

It may damage your head to waterpump coolant hose if it's dripping on it.

does the ip have to come out? or can i just change it while its still bolted on? and to my understanding the seal is just a metric o-ring?

You do have to remove the pump. Check the advance shaft bushings, as sometimes they will wear enough that it will still leak even with a new seal. May as well pick up a reseal kit ($25 on ebay) and replace all the seals while it's out.

I'll bet it was harder than just taking the pump out. Like I said, may as well reseal the rest of the pump, as all the other seals are the same age as the one that's leaking. Chances are your glowplugs could use replacement too. How old is you timing belt? I personally like to make things easier on myself and take care of all these things at once.

glowplugs are brand new, timing belt.....i dont even wanna know, i bought a new one and its sitting in my trunk waiting for warm weather. i recently found out i have 2 broken exhaust studs so i might as well pull the head...again... rebuld my turbo, ip, arp studs, gov mod, and whatever else i can do to make this thing a little bit more exciting to drive. Interesting how the engine doesnt run any worse while the ip pisses out diesel fuel. Also sucks that i have the "blend door foam rot" in the middle of winter, i scrape more ice off the inside of my windows than the outside. No heat is a killer also. It was so cold the other day that i ripped out my glove box right off the hinges just by opening it.
